MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Children's Museum of Memphis is hosting Color Play: Exploring the Art & Science of Color October 11-January 4. The exhibit invites children to play with colors through hands-on interactives, including whole-body experiences and opportunities for fantasy play. The exhibit's centerpiece is the Color Playhouse that beckons children to enter its front door and explore.

Exhibit areas include:
-- Yellow Light Room: colors appear like magic under different types of
lights.
-- Stroop Test: words are simple to read, but the brain sees the colors,
not the words.
-- Black Light Room: an ultraviolet spotlight sweeps the room uncovering
surprises.
-- Rainbow Room: chandelier makes moving rainbow reflections on the
ceiling.
-- Color Windows: the world outside turns green, yellow, red and blue.
-- Polarized Window: bright colors appear like magic when clear plastic
objects are held between the two polarized filters.
-- Soap Bubble Window: colors in soap film stand out against a solid
black background.
-- Color Dance: dance to the rhythms of moving lights.
-- Prism's Rainbow: introduces a basic science concept that white light
is made of colors.
-- TV Colors: see yourself on a real television set with a large
magnifier in the middle of the screen that shows the individual pixels
of red, green and blue.
-- Color Creations: transparent colored plastic pieces are combined to
create colors.
-- Picture Printing: how colored pictures are printed.
-- Pigment Palette: familiar experience of mixing colored paints.
-- Color Spinners: tops create color effects when spun.
-- Color Storm: pedals of an upside down bicycle power a fan that makes
colored feathers fly around inside a clear chamber.
-- Big Kaleidoscope: colorful patterns mix and change when a crank is
turned.
