ANDOVER, Mass., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics Research Corporation , a leading provider of innovative management consulting, engineering, technology and information technology services and solutions to federal and state governments, today announced that it received a task order valued at $4.8 million from the U.S. Air Force Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base. The task order has an eighteen month period of performance. DRC will provide developmental research supporting the establishment of the Item Unique Identification (IUID) umbrella program for Air Force depots.

This task order expands upon IUID research work previously performed by DRC for Air Force depots and improves the Defense Department's asset tracking of repaired, overhauled and manufactured components for accountability, valuation and life cycle management. Based on previous research on specific metallurgical impacts of IUID marking this new effort increases the number of items that will be marked, bringing the Air Force closer to realizing its objective of total asset visibility. Under the new task order DRC also will provide comprehensive analysis of tagging and labeling methods, including detailed studies of adhesives durability in operational environments.

"DRC is delighted to continue our support of the DoD's IUID initiatives, as directed by the Under Secretary of Defense, Acquisition Technology and Logistics," said Robert L. Smith, DRC's senior vice president and general manager, Acquisition Management and Engineering Group. "Our efforts will assist in the identification of state-of-the art asset tracking technology and help improve accountability throughout the life cycle of all DoD assets."

This award marks the thirteenth task order received by DRC under the Design Engineering Support Program (DESP II) bringing the total of DRC's awards to $50.1 million, third in total awards amongst the 20 DESP II prime contractors.
