NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Quixote Transportation Safety, Inc. (QTS), a division of Quixote Corporation , today announced that it will donate a portion of its 2008 sales to families of highway workers who have been killed or permanently disabled while on the job through the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation Programs.
The "Quixote Cares" Program was announced as part of Quixote's participation in the 2008 American Traffic Safety Services Traffic Expo and Convention in New Orleans.
Ms. Erica Ann Pearson, 21, the 2006-2007 recipient of a Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship from the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation, was on hand during the announcement of the program. In 2005, her father, a senior engineer with Asphalt Specialties, a contractor working for the Colorado Department of Transportation, was struck and permanently disabled when a driver errantly entered the workzone where Mr. Pearson was involved in a late night paving project.
Since 1988, the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation has promoted roadway safety through charitable giving and public awareness programs.
According to Quixote Transportation Safety Vice President of Sales James Crowley, "Quixote has always had a mission to make roads a safer place for everyone. The Quixote Cares program now extends our commitment to safer roads to families of highway workers who have been killed or permanently disabled while on the job."
